Advanced graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and young researchers from the Americas are invited to apply to attend the Pan American Advanced Studies Institute (PASI) on Process Modeling and Optimization for Energy and Sustainability, which is funded by the National Science Foundation. The workshop will take place at the Hotel do Bosque, Angra dos Reis, RJ, Brazil, from July 19 – 29, 2011. The PASI2011 workshop will focus on state-of-the-art methods for process modeling and optimization and their application in two specific areas, energy and sustainability. The workshop will include lectures (5-hour modules covering a broad area), seminars (1-hour research and overview presentations), and computer tutorials (2-hour). There will be a fee of $150 upon acceptance to the workshop. The aim in the selection of participants is for broad representation of U.S., Canada and Latin American institutions.
