Currently the American Red Cross has issued a nationwide appeal for blood donors to boost a dwindling supply. Since January 1, the bad weather in DC and the Northeast has created a situation where a total of over 30,000 blood/platelet donations have not been able to be collected. Blood products help save peoples lives, whether it’s a blood transfusion for a car accident victim, platelets for cancer patients, or frequent blood transfusions for sickle cell patients.
