Four years ago, the fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon began a University of Maryland tradition to help *Autism Speaks* raise awareness and support autism research. This year we are pleased to partner with the sorority Sigma Kappa and the fraternity Delta Sigma Phi to host the *4th Annual Fear the Turtle Autism Speaks U 5K* on April 14th, 2012 to support autism research during autism awareness month. The Center for Disease Control reports that *1 in 110 children* are now diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder--1 in every 70 boys. Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disorder in the United States, with more children diagnosed each year than with pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. As autism rates continue to soar, so too does the chance that you know someone affected by it. Children with autism are your friends and neighbors, your nieces and nephews, your grandchildren∑they are *all *our children and so their cause is our own. As I mentioned above, April 14th, 2012 will mark the *4th Annual* *Autism Fear the Turtle Autism Speaks U 5K*. I am writing to ask for your support as a sponsor for this year‚s race. Last year we raised over $24,000 for *Autism Speaks*. This year we would like to double our fundraising efforts. We need to find the answers to the autism puzzle. *Autism Speaks* cannot do this work without you. In order to register for the Autism Speaks U 5K you must do the following. Step 1.
