Speed Mentoring: Meet Your Professional Development “Match”!
Wednesday, October 10th
West County Library, Odenton, MD
5:30-8 pm
Are you a new or returning MLIS student? Are you just starting your career in the information profession? Are you in need of professional advice and guidance and don’t know where to turn? Look no further—the Special Libraries Association
(SLA), Maryland Chapter, and the Maryland Library Association’s (MLA) Development of Emerging and Aspiring Librarians Group (DEAL) and Leadership and Management Division (LMD) have teamed up on a unique new program that can help: Speed Mentoring: Meet Your
Professional Development “Match”!
So—what is speed mentoring?
If you’ve heard of speed dating, you’re on the right track. Now, think that, rather than meeting a potential future spouse or significant other—you are meeting a future mentor who will be a valuable source of information to help you make
the most of your budding career as an information professional. During this fast-paced program, you will meet one-on-one with a mentor for 3 minutes, discuss your professional strengths and challenges, then move on to another mentor and do the same. At the
end of these brief discussions, mentees will be asked to identify potential mentors for further mentoring relationships beyond the workshop.
For additional information and pricing, check out the current issue of MLA Happenings or the SLA Maryland Chapter’s upcoming events website:
