Reference and Instruction Librarian (Two-Year Appointment)
Fairfield University Library
Academic library invites applications from creative, flexible, self-motivated librarians with strong public services commitment and a vision and enthusiasm for the future of electronic technologies to join collegial team. The successful candidate will be hired at the Librarian I level. This position is a two-year appointment. The position may include some evening and weekend hours.
Plays a key role in the library instruction program. Creates and maintains web-based and print instructional resources. Provides reference services. Participates in the Library Liaison program.
MLS from ALA accredited program. Recent experience or course work in reference. Evidence of potential in teaching. Must be self-directed, well organized, and able to meet deadlines and multiple demands. Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences. Inventive approach to the development of new services; commitment to responsive and innovative service is essential.
Highly Desirable:
Teaching experience using active learning techniques; demonstrated competence in using web-based tools and software in the creative design and delivery of instruction are highly desirable. Science background; demonstrated technological competencies; second Master’s degree.
