Graduate student assistant job
McKeldin Library: Circulation and Reserves
We are seeking an enthusiastic and responsible graduate student to work 20 hours per week at the circulation and reserves desk in McKeldin Library. The work schedule is primarily
7.15pm to 11.15 pm Sunday through Thursday, with other hours as needed. You will work as part of our small evening team providing customers with circulation and course reserves services. This involves issuing and returning items, using our bibliographic
database, locating course reserves and ILLs, processing incoming and outgoing shipments and providing directional and informational assistance.
You will be responsible for closing the building and handling emergencies by contacting the appropriate library and university personnel.
You will also supervise other student assistants when the need arises and complete other duties as assigned.
Start date: week beginning January 14th, 2013
Experience of library work in a public facing position is highly desirable. Candidates need to demonstrate a
commitment to customer service and the desire to work as part of a team.
Hourly pay rate $10.00/hour. This is an hourly position only; there are no health, tuition, retirement, or vacation benefits.
