Engineering Opportunities in Advanced Process Control and Optimization

 

ExxonMobil Chemical Company is seeking Process Control and Optimization Engineers to support its manufacturing sites globally from our central engineering organization in Baytown. Applicants must have an advanced degree in Chemical Engineering; at least 5 years of relevant industrial experience is desirable.

 

Process Control and Optimization Engineers at ExxonMobil contribute to the design, implementation, and sustainment of the advanced automation systems that enable our manufacturing facilities to run safely, cleanly, and more profitably. Successful candidates must have comprehension of control theory fundamentals and the ability to understand, model, and explain chemical processes. Basic competency with a commercial model predictive control package or process/flowsheet modeling tool is considered necessary. Experience with open equation modeling, nonlinear programming, or a high level programming language such as Matlab, Visual Basic, or Fortran, and familiarity with at least one industrial distributed control system is advantageous. Work assignments will expose the candidates to the real-life challenges associated with the design and implementation of innovative advanced control solutions for large, complex chemical processes. 

 

In addition to strong technical background in advanced process control and optimization, successful candidates will demonstrate innovative thinking, strong initiative, and good communication skills. They must be able to interact effectively with peers, across organizational boundaries, and in diverse teams.  Occasional international travel is expected.
