A postdoctoral position is available in the Process and Energy Systems Engineering group at the University of Texas at Austin. The project seeks to develop novel approaches for improving energy utilization in process systems. The candidate should hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related field. A research focus on Process Systems Engineering and expertise in first-principles mathematical modeling of chemical processes, as well as in mixed-integer programming and dynamic optimization are required. Knowledge of data analysis and modeling tools such as PCA/PLS is highly desirable, as is experience with MATLAB and equation-oriented modeling environments such as gPROMS or Aspen CustomModeler. The candidate will be expected to interact with academic and industrial project partners on a regular basis, providing updates, written reports and preparing technical publications. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding. The position is available immediately and the review of applications will continue until it is filled. To apply, please send a brief statement of purpose and career plans (no more than one half-page), a detailed CV with full publication list, and the contact information for at least three referees to: Michael Baldea, Ph.D. Assistant Professor McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering Cockrell School of Engineering The University of Texas at Austin 200 E Dean Keeton St. Stop C0400 Austin, Texas 78712-1589 CPE 4.466 / tel: (512) 471-1281 / fax: (512) 471-7060 [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> http://baldeagroup.cloudaccess.net<http://baldeagroup.cloudaccess.net/> | Challenge for McKetta - Students First!<http://www.che.utexas.edu/alumni/invest/challenge-for-mcketta/> The University of Texas at Austin is an equal opportunity employer.
