Subject: Volunteer as a Tutor/Mentor in STEM for 6th - 8th Grade PGC Students Description: We are asking you to consider joining iL.E.A.D. Success Tutoring and Mentoring Services as a tutor/mentor this Fall. Our program is committed to empowering youth by providing literacy enrichment through tutoring and mentorship. Prince George's County 6th - 8th grade students will develop the confidence to face present-day challenges by engaging personalized learning tools necessary for reading, writing, and mathematics. Our services are designed to stimulate a positive attitude toward science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) literacy, which fosters interdisciplinary inquiry and understanding. Implementing this approach cultivates a community which will learn the foundation for success, explore positive avenues for change, achieve goals, and demonstrate leadership. We personally encourage you to become a volunteer. There are many youth who need someone in their life to help them succeed. iL.E.A.D. Success meets once a week in Monday evenings from 4:00p to 6:00p at the Hyattsville Branch Library. The program operates during the Fall and Spring semesters. If you are unable to make a weekly commitment, you can donate your skills by helping on a committee. We know the program needs volunteers who will support technology, help build web pages and write newsletters, or who will help organize events. Not everyone can be a one-on-one volunteer, but almost anyone can help the youth connect with mentors and learning experiences our tutor/mentor program.
