Current MLS student Elizabeth Tobey will be presenting the following
lecture this weekend:

 Sporting Conversations Lecture on Federico Grisone’s “The Rules of Riding”



The first *Sporting Conversations* lecture of 2015 features Elizabeth Tobey
and will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the
National Sporting Library & Museum campus in Middleburg, VA. Admission is
free for NSLM members and $5.00 for non-members. The event is open to the
public. The National Sporting Library & Museum has a collection of rare
equestrian and sporting books from the sixteenth-twenty-first centuries.


Tobey, the first recipient of the John H. Daniels Fellowship in 2007, will
discuss her research of Federico Grisone’s *The Rules of Riding* (Gli
ordini di cavalcare) (1550) and her recent publication, the first English
translation of Grisone’s work. The translation, which Tobey collaborated
upon with Federica Brunori Deigan, was published in 2014 by the Arizona
Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Copies of the publication will
be available for purchase (cash or check only) and Tobey will be available
to sign purchased books.
