The Systems Research Institute (SRI) at Tufts University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research fellow in Process System Engineering (PSE). The project is in collaboration with Biogen, I leading pharmaceutical company heavily
relying on the implementation of novel research results into their manufacturing plants. The appointment is for a year, with a possible one-year extension. The unique technical challenge that this project is undertaking to address is the development of hybrid
models for large-scale bioreactors. These hybrid models will combine knowledge-driven and data-driven model components describing global fluid mechanical characteristics of production reactors via CFD and local process characteristics of the biological transformation
taking place. These models will be used for process optimization and control. We are looking for candidates with a strong background and experience in modeling and PSE fundamentals, such as Optimization and Control. A good background in Applied Statistics
will be greatly welcome. Candidates should email Professor Georgakis ([log in to unmask]) their CV, with a list of publications and a statement detailing the reasons for their interest in this project.
Please also provide the names of 3-5 references that can speak in some detail about the candidate’s technical capabilities and past achievements.
Biogen and, of course, Tufts University are very much interested in publishing the results of this challenging research project. Tufts is an equal opportunity employer.
