The Department of Neurosurgery and Bioengineering, Linninger Research
Group, are seeking outstanding candidates for a research fellowship in drug
delivery for diseases of the Central Nervous System including cancer,
Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease.

The objective of the project is to design gene therapies for diseases of
the Central Nervous System and nanoparticles for targeted delivery in
chemotherapy. Research will involve cooperation with the UIC 3T medical
Imagining Center, the departments of Neurosurgery, and Pharmacology.
Research work will involve medical image analysis, experimental design both
in vitro and in vivo, as well as collaboration with CFD engineers that aim
at predicting drug biodistribution using rigorous computational fluid

Candidates are expected to have a background in the areas of Biochemistry,
Computational Fluid Mechanics, Bioengineering, or Medical imaging.
Candidates are also expected to be familiar with in vitro cell work,
histology, and cell imaging, at the basic biochemical level. Prior
experience with the use of DICOM medical images or CFD software are a plus.

The position will initially be for one year with possible extensions.
