The Sustainable and Resilient Economy (SRE) program at The Ohio State University has an opening for a post-doctoral research position with interdisciplinary work in Sustainable Engineering. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. degree in an area related to Sustainability Science or Sustainable Engineering and a demonstrated ability to perform interdisciplinary research at the interface of engineering, environmental sciences, economics, social sciences and policy. Research skills should include areas such as engineering design and optimization, life cycle assessment, applied statistics, and modeling of economic and ecological systems. The ability and willingness to learn new subject matter and work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment are essential. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal.
This position is supported by the Sustainable and Resilient Economy program, part of the Ohio State University’s Discovery Themes initiative (www.discovery.osu.edu/sre). The candidate’s work will be directed by Professor Bhavik Bakshi and additional members of a multidisciplinary research team that takes a holistic approach to understanding how production and consumption systems are linked to ecological systems and how society can achieve greater value in more sustainable and resilient development. The SRE program aims to develop and apply integrated assessment methods to guide practical solutions from local to global scales that enhance the efficiency of material and energy inputs, reduce adverse environmental and social impacts and protect critical ecosystem services.
