Subject: Genetic Counselor Seeks Full-Time Research Assistant Starting Summer 2018 Description: The ClinSeq project is a cutting-edge study being conducted at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to pilot the use of whole exome sequencing. Through our piloting, we hope to learn more about the informatics, laboratory, medical and genetic counseling challenges associated with such large-scale genetic testing. We currently have an opening for one recent college graduate to join our team starting in summer 2018. This person will gain a wealth of clinical and research experience over the course of a 1- or 2-year appointment, as well as the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clinical and research professionals. This experience is particularly well suited for graduates who have an interest in genetic counseling as a profession. The job responsibilities vary, but may include:recruiting and scheduling new participants in the program; maintaining electronic and paper records of study participation and data collection; assisting social and behavioral researchers with various aspects of study design and implementation including: literature reviews, participant recruitment, and data collection; participating in weekly group meetings and conferences; assisting with the publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals; and carrying out other administrative tasks related to the study as requested by study staff.
