A postdoctoral opening is available in the group of Professor Nick Sahinidis in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.

 

The position will involve research on the development of surrogate models for novel methanol/water separation systems from data and simulations, optimization of process configurations using the newly derived models, and technoeconomic analysis of the resultant systems.  A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline is required.  Previous experience in the area of process systems engineering, including familiarity with simulators such as ASPEN and optimization methods and systems such as GAMS is desirable.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to guide a group of three MS students and interact with colleagues at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at Purdue University.

 

A start date in early 2019 is preferred but starting later in 2019 is a possibility.
