Subject: Research Assistant Opportunity - Henry M. Jackson Foundation

HJF is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Military HIV Research
Program (MHRP) located at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR)
in Silver Spring, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and
programmatic support services to MHRP.

The incumbent will be responsible for performing experiments of a molecular
biological nature in support of research for the Viral Sequencing Core.
Provides laboratory and technical support to senior technical and
professional staff.

1.Performs laboratory research projects, including collection and
organization of data.  Makes detailed observations about experiments.
Provides basic data analysis and interpretation.
2.Assists with the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and

4.Performs data entry for research projects and maintains project databases.
5.Maintains compliance with established laboratory safety and other
procedures.  Follow guidelines for the proper disposal of infectious and
hazardous materials.
6.Maintains supplies in the laboratory and keeps the laboratory area clean.
7.Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of standard laboratory
techniques; ability to follow detailed instructions; good communication and
analytical skills

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in a scientific

Minimum Experience:  0 to 2 years’ experience

Physical Capabilities:  Long periods of standing and sitting; handling
various chemicals

Work Environment:  Laboratory environment

Background: Must have lived in the US 3 out of the past 5 years; eligible to
pass a NACI background.
