Based in Washington, D.C., she worked for The New York Times, The Washington Post and Pew Research Center, and is co-author of *Deep South Dispatch: Memoir of a Civil Rights Journalist*. In collaboration with her father, John N. Herbers, a former New York Times reporter, who covered the civil rights movement for more than a decade, *Deep South Dispatch: Memoir of a Civil Rights Journalist *is an historic retrospective that resonates with relevance and immediacy as America struggles with racial issues today.
