My name is Helen Durand, and I am an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University in the exciting come-back city of Detroit in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. I am actively recruiting for multiple funded PhD positions (including a stipend, tuition coverage, and opportunity to enroll in medical/dental/vision insurance plans) that start as early as summer 2020.
The core mission of our research group is to improve the lives of people around the world and develop the technology that would make what today are only dreams into reality. We are using control theory and mathematics to seek to mitigate cybersecurity hazards for industrial control systems and to discover and characterize game-changing approaches for artificial intelligence, materials and engineering systems design, interfacing control with computing and communication systems, and healthcare. Our research group, Research Group Discovery, is looking for applicants who are creative, imaginative, detail-oriented, team-focused, and ready to work to push the boundaries of science and mathematics wherever it will lead them in trying to solve pressing world problems and engineering challenges.
