My group is excited to share an immediate opening for a postdoctoral scholar to develop new methodologies for multiscale modeling and optimization of energy systems. Specifically, in collaboration with the Insitute for the Design of Advanced Energy Systems (
idaes.org), we are creating novel analysis capabilities that capture the complex interdependencies between energy system conceptual design, model predictive control, and real-world energy markets. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in engineering, operations research, computer science, or a related field. Demonstrated skills and experience in Python (especially Pyomo), numerical optimization, energy or power systems modeling, conceptual design, surrogate modeling, and model predictive control, are a plus. This position includes extensive opportunities to interact with two dynamic, multi-disciplinary research communities at Notre Dame - the Computational Molecular Science and Engineering Laboratory (
https://comsel.org/) and the Center for Informatics and Computational Sciences (
https://cics.nd.edu/) - as well as the IDAES team. The initial appointment is for one year, with the opportunity for mutually agreeable renewal for a second year.
