Dear Colleagues,

My group is excited to share an immediate opening for a postdoctoral scholar to develop new methodologies for multiscale modeling and optimization of energy systems. Specifically, in collaboration with the Insitute for the Design of Advanced Energy Systems (idaes.org), we are creating novel analysis capabilities that capture the complex interdependencies between energy system conceptual design, model predictive control, and real-world energy markets. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in engineering, operations research, computer science, or a related field. Demonstrated skills and experience in Python (especially Pyomo), numerical optimization, energy or power systems modeling, conceptual design, surrogate modeling, and model predictive control, are a plus. This position includes extensive opportunities to interact with two dynamic, multi-disciplinary research communities at Notre Dame - the Computational Molecular Science and Engineering Laboratory (https://comsel.org/) and the Center for Informatics and Computational Sciences (https://cics.nd.edu/) - as well as the IDAES team. The initial appointment is for one year, with the opportunity for mutually agreeable renewal for a second year.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae, two representative publications, and a list of references to Prof. Alexander Dowling ([log in to unmask]). All materials sent by March 22, 2020 will receive full consideration. Please include "[Postdoctoral Position]" in the subject. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Best regards,
Alex Dowling
