Mayuresh (and CAST),
Thank you so much for passing on this very sad news. Vince was a great friend and mentor to me, especially as I took over as Chair of CAST. He was the Chair when I became a Director and we had talked face-to-face at every annual AIChE
meeting since then. He always had great ideas to pass on to me and was always so up-beat. From a ‘real job’ perspective, we both were very avid champions of Knowledge Management and Continuous Improvement in our respective companies.
He will be greatly missed. Has Lehigh or the Dept. considered a memorial fund in his honor?

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [CAST10] Vincent G. Grassi, Professor of Practice in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Lehigh University, passes away
Dear colleagues,
With great sadness, I wanted to share with you the news that Vince Grassi, who served as CAST Division Chair many years ago, passed away on May 3, 2020
after a protracted battle with esophageal cancer. He was 64. Vince was an alumnus of our department, having completed his MS and PhD degrees with Prof. Bill Luyben
while still working full time at Air Products & Chemicals Inc.
A more detailed posting of his career highlights at Air Products, and later at Lehigh, as well as his active role in AICHE, can be found at this
link
In particular, he stood out at Lehigh as an outstanding instructor, as indicated by the two videos that our students put together,
one before he passed away, hoping for his recovery, and one on his memorial.
Vince is survived by his wife Kim Grassi, daughter Christine and sister Susan.
