Exploring Leadership is a business course that provides insights and expertise needed to effectively lead individuals and teams. It fulfills the I-Series and Scholarship in Practice general education requirements. Individual coaching aimed at improving your leadership potential will be provided. BMGT289J invites you on a journey of personal exploration and development to become a better leader. To achieve this goal, the course offers an extensive examination of leadership in organizations and provides you with a set of hands-on experiences that are designed to enhance your self-awareness and capacity for effective leadership. Contrary to popular belief, people are not born leaders; leadership skills can be learned. Everyone, at one time or another, will have (or has had) the opportunity to be a leader. The course is based on the belief that leadership opportunities and challenges present themselves everyday. It is up to you to recognize and make the most of these opportunities, and this class will teach you how to do so. The course will strengthen your ability to supervise others, build teams, manage group dynamics, motivate individuals, communicate effectively, and deal with conflict. The online material includes articles, cases, and simulations from Harvard Business Publishing.
