Subject: Laboratory Research Technician Job Description: Laboratory Research Technician Job The Hasan lab in University of Maryland Center for Biomolecular Therapeutics in Rockville MD is seeking a full-time Laboratory Research Technician. This researcher will be involved in production and characterization of membrane proteins involved in viral infections. This position is an excellent opportunity for a college graduate looking for an entry level research opportunity. Laboratory Website: https://www.ibbr.umd.edu/profiles/s-saif-hasan Essential Responsibilities In lab Perform culture of bacterial, insect, and mammalian cells Assist in cloning, protein purification and characterization Perform general housekeeping of the laboratory including dish-washing, autoclaving, preparing solutions and media, and making gels Perform other duties as assigned Tele-working Record research data and participate in lab meetings Order laboratory supplies Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s in biology, biochemistry, or related fields Experience: Prior research experience is preferred especially in cell culture Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of the principles and practices of natural and/or chemical sciences; of the safe and proper handling and disposal of applicable specimens, materials and equipment. Ability to perform laboratory procedures using applicable equipment and techniques; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to use computers and related software applications; to lift, transport and deliver materials and stock laboratory supplies and goods; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
