Subject: NEUR405/BSCI455: Neuroscience Lab in Fall 2021 Description: NEUR405/BSCI455: Neuroscience Lab BSCI454 is morphing into a new 3-credit course offered for the first time in fall 2021. BSCI455 will fulfill UL lab requirements for PHNB, GENB, and CEBG specializations. Dr. Hilary Bierman, who has been teaching BSCI454 since 2011, has used feedback received from students to develop this new and improved course. The weekly lab period is now 4 hours, which means more time collecting and analyzing data in the lab and less struggling at home with data analysis. The extra time allows for some new interesting lab experiments! Dr. Bierman will lead a new 2-hour lecture/discussion designed to enhance the learning experience in the laboratory. During this time, students will gain background and context for the labs and participate in discussions and presentations of scientific literature, neuronal modeling, and workshop sessions to help develop their group projects. Assessments: There are no exams. This course is group-work heavy but includes significantly more individual assessments than BSCI454. Note: Effective ONLY Fall 2021, BSCI353 may be taken as a co-requisite instead of as a prerequisite.
