I am a student in the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am conducting research on how people stay up to date on topics of interest. The goal of this research effort is to understand how users who follow the same topic over time prefer to see new information organized in a system. I am currently recruiting participants who are 18+ and located in the US for this new study. I would like to invite you to take a brief survey to see if you qualify to participate in the survey. We anticipate that the qualification survey will take 5 minutes.
If you are selected for the main study, it will take approximately 2 hours. The study will be administered online using Zoom, and will consist of a pre-study questionnaire, a training session, a series of tasks in which you will use a prototype search system to follow a topic related to the one you follow, and ending with an interview on your experience. We will record your use of the search system and the interview, which will not be associated with your name; recordings will be deleted after they are analyzed by the research team.
Participants will receive a $25 Amazon gift card as compensation for their time. If you are interested in participating in this study, please visit the survey link to complete screening questions to determine your eligibility.
