The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology invites applications for a Research Scientist in the field of energy system modelling and analysis. Early applications are encouraged.
MITEI (https://energy.mit.edu/) is the energy research hub for MIT focusing on the accelerating energy transition as emerging technology and policy, demographic trends, and economics reshape the landscape of energy supply and demand. To further its mission, MITEI conducts techno-economic and systems-oriented research in six integrated research focus areas, which include: electric power, energy storage and low-carbon fuels, transportation, industrial processes, carbon management, and the built environment. Candidates will be expected to conduct high-level, independent research leading to a steady output of research publications and citations, international conference presentations and invited talks. They may be further called upon to serve as the judge of others' work as a journal reviewer, or external program advisor, and are expected to advise students and postdoctoral researchers, and contribute to the public policy outreach, and industry engagement activities of MITEI.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline with at least two years of postdoctoral experience, a strong publication record, and demonstrated experience in leading research activities and mentoring junior researchers and graduate students. Candidates should be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment. Candidates with experience any of the six focus areas will be considered, with special emphasis towards those with knowledge of industrial processes, carbon management, the built environment, and transportation. Documented experience with energy systems analysis and modeling is a key requirement.
Candidates should apply via the online application portal (https://tinyurl.com/35u85tnj), and are asked to include a complete CV. Upon request, should also be prepared to provide at least two letters of recommendation. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially women and members of under-represented minority groups.
